Growing up in Long Beach, California, Shelley always knew she would one day live in the mountains of Colorado. In 1977, after attending the University of California Santa Barbara, she and her husband Jerry moved to Steamboat Springs to fulfill that dream.

In 1979, along with a partner, they opened Mattie Silks, a restaurant in Ski Time Square that they owned and operated for 22 years. After selling the Restaurant, Jerry and Shelley moved into the development, construction and real estate businesses of Steamboat Springs. Jerry was the developer for Anglers Retreat, a development of 16 single family homes here in Steamboat Springs, and Graystone on The Green, a development of 18 single family home sites on The Rollingstone Ranch Golf Course. Shelley joined Colorado Group Realty as a broker in 2000, became an owner in 2003 and has served ten years on the Board of Directors. She is currently Managing Broker for Colorado Group Realty and she has received the "2011 Broker of the Year" and the "2008 Broker of the Year" awards as well as "Most Outgoing Referrals" in 2016 and 2015.

Shelley has three children that have kept her busy in the world of dance, speech team, basketball, crew, track, hockey and baseball. Along with being a spectator, she also volunteered for many of those organizations. She has been spotted at the ballet barre herself or with a pair of hockey skates on, and has been known to run around the bases in the summer and ride a snowmobile in the winter. Along with these sports, she enjoys water skiing, camping, hiking, and playing with her English Cream Golden Retriever and Miniature Long Haired Dachshund. Her oldest daughter graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, was in the Peace Corps, then continued her education at Denver University to receive her MBA and Juris Doctorate; she is currently working in Phoenix as Director of Operations and Expansion for Carvana. Her middle daughter graduated from Purdue University Undergrad and received her Doctorate there in Pharmaceutical Sciences; she currently lives and works in Bloomington, Indiana as a Research Scientist. Her son graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa majoring in Business finance; he currently lives in Steamboat and works as Shelley's business partner selling real estate. They are known as "The Stanford Team".

Active in the community, Shelley has volunteered at the schools and has served on many boards and committees including the Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association and Little League Baseball. She has served on the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Board of Directors, Mountain Business Association Board of Directors, Restaurant Association Board of Directors and was Founder and Chairperson of the Fall Foliage Festival started in 1980.

Shelley loves the active lifestyle of Steamboat Springs and has seen many changes over the years of living here. She feels that Steamboat Springs is a wonderful place to work, live and raise a family. Winter may be why she came to Steamboat, but the summers are why she has stayed. She now lives in North Routt by Steamboat Lake and loves the peaceful lifestyle up there. "The drive is my favorite part of living in North Routt, it changes daily and is so relaxing," says Shelley.
