The Colorado Group Realty Charitable Foundation is matching donations, up to $10K, for 4 local non-profits that require assistance during COVID-19. These funds are needed now more than ever as these non-profits have struggled with finances, staffing, volunteers, etc. during this time. The 4 local non-profits include:

Routt County Humane Society: With the onset of COVID-19, RCHS has experienced significant reductions in operating revenues as programs were cancelled and adoptions significantly curtailed. Funds donated will be used for veterinary care as well as the purchase of food and behavior enrichment equipment for shelter animals. To date, the RCHS has captured 89 cats and kittens from one location! They spay/neuter and immunize each of these animals to make them ready for adoption. This is a significant expense and undertaking for our staff in a short amount of time.

Steamboat Reading: Steamboat Reading provides a community of support for struggling readers and their families. With the loss of instructional time at school, our support is needed more than ever to assist children on their path to better reading skills. During an unprecedented situation such as the COVID-19 pandemic, children who require additional attention beyond the regular teaching time could easily get left behind. The additional funding would be used to provide scholarships for student services and to continue to provide education and support to parents.

Steamboat REPS: As Steamboat REPS responds to the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis, many Steamboat community members are experiencing increased isolation, losses, anxiety and depression. Now more than ever, we need effective suicide prevention skills and education. They would utilize the possible funding to continue to offer SafeTALK from the LivingWorks organization, an interactive, on-line training program  providing skills and knowledge to keep family, friends, co-workers and others safe from suicide.

Steamboat Creates: Steamboat Creates will use the funds to support Steamboat during the COVID-19 crisis by providing on-line programming including Young at Art @Home creativity classes for kids, weekly yoga classes for kids and Pivot Point: creative tools for personal empowerment, a series of creativity classes to help the community cope with trauma triggered by COVID-19. They will also continue to host virtual Artwalks for downtown galleries, performing arts groups, musicians and writers in order to raise awareness of artists’ work and promote sales.
