Colorado Group Realty Charity Foundation and Partners of Routt County Work Together Serving Youth in Need

How many of us can look back at our childhood and identify someone that served as a mentor? Maybe it was a family member, a teacher, a coach or a neighbor? Partners of Routt County, uses the concept of matching youths – many of whom are struggling for one reason or another, with a supportive adult figure. Since the non-profit’s inception in 1996, they have served hundreds of youths from ages 6-17 throughout the community.

The youth in our programs need trusted adults in their lives now more than ever, and we expect to receive an increased number of referrals in the coming months,” said Erin Miller, the community based mentoring program manager for Partners. In the last year they have served over 200 youth through their three programs: community based mentoring, school based mentoring and peer mentoring. The overall objective of the programing is based on self-esteem, commitment to school, bonding with adults, attitudes towards alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, social-emotional learning and goal planning. These concepts resonate with the Colorado Group Realty Charity Foundation, who have chosen the organization as a beneficiary for a host of fundraising events over the years.

Financial cuts at this time are inevitable due the impact from COVID-19. Partners of Routt County, faces diminished state funding, and losses from reduced grants, donations and the lack of special events. “We are so grateful to our mentors who have stepped up and are finding creative ways to connect with, and support their mentees,” Miller said.
